Many plants have amazing healing properties but some plants have a dark side too. Some common garden plants are toxic to dogs and children. Here is a list Diane Stein’s book “Natural Healing for Dogs and Cats:”

Angels Trumpet (not on Diane’s list but I know it’s toxic to children and pets)
Bittersweet (bark, leaves and seeds)
Dumb Cane (including berries)
Poison hemlock
Ivy (English and Baltic)
Jimson weed
Thorn apple
Lantana buds
Lily
Marigold
Marsh marigold
Hemp
Mistletoe
Oleander (all parts)
Philodendron
Pointsetta
Poison ivy
Potato (unripe tubers and sprouts from tubers)
Rhubarb (leaf blades)

Poisoning symptoms include vomitting diarrhea,convulsions,coma,dizziness,loss of muscular control and coordination, disordered vision, intense, thirst, rapid pulse, swollen mouth and throat and itching, redness, and blistering of skin.
